At its simplest, the Kind in the 409 Facebook group is a moderated chat channel for those seeking assistance to be able to easily reach out to others that may be able to provide the requested assistance.

The core purpose is to facilitate the flow of help and support between people, making it easy for those with needs to connect with those who can provide solutions.

Essentially, it's a structured and managed online space where individuals can post their requests for help and receive responses from individuals with the ability to help.

At Kind in the 409, our mission is to focus on spreading kindness by providing a group that offers connections between community members who have a need with members who have the ability to meet a need in and around the 409 area. We are dedicated to building a stronger, more connected community for everyone.

Our Mission

The idea for providing this platform is not original.

It came from the occasional thread on groups that people create for the same purpose of meeting needs.

It became a passion to create a space for service projects that are accessible to anyone, whether you are in need or want to meet a need for someone.

Our inspiration comes from Matthew 9:35-36 where Jesus saw the crowds and had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

This scripture is the heart of Kind in the 409, being moved with compassion for people, and to see lives changed.

Our Story

Our Team

Kind in the 409 was founded by Jena and Tyke Cameron with a deep passion for serving the Southeast Texas community.

Having witnessed the power of community support firsthand, Jena and Tyke envisioned a dedicated platform to make giving and receiving help more accessible to all residents of the 409.

We are supported by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to connecting those who can help with those who need it most.

Why Kindness Matters

Perspective

There is some evidence that being aware of our own acts of kindness, as well as the things we are grateful for, can increase feelings of happiness, optimism and satisfaction.

Actionable

Putting scripture into action, "...give freely what we have received, to anyone who asks..." Luke 6:30
