To build a stronger, more connected community by providing a platform for those who have a need, with members who have the ability to meet a need in, and around the 409 area.
The Story
A single mom posted that she had a job, but due to recent illness and medical bills she could not afford groceries until her next paycheck. We met at a grocery store and purchased groceries for her and her children.
A caretaker who needed to be out of town for a week needed meals provided for her grandfather. Several people cooked meals and met the lady at public locations to pick up meals before leaving town.
A mother and daughter needed a ride home after a lengthy hospital stay.
The idea for providing this platform is not original.
It came from the occasional thread on groups that people create for the same purpose of meeting needs.
It became a passion to create a space for service projects that are accessible to anyone, whether you are in need or want to meet a need for someone.
In Matthew 9:35-36 Jesus was going to towns and villages teaching and healing, and verse 36 says, “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” This scripture is the heart of Kind in the 409, being moved with compassion for people, and to see lives changed.
This is a place where we can put scripture into action. Jesus instructed us to give freely what we have received, to ANYONE who asks, to those who could not repay, and even to test Him in our giving. (Luke 6:30, 14:13-14, Matthew 10:8, Malachi 3:10-12)
